Leanna believes that any day is a good day when a bike ride is involved – especially with friends! She is a certified Cycling BC Ride Leader and currently volunteers as an Associate Ride Leader for the Meraloma Bike Club. She brings a deep knowledge of the Metro Vancouver cycling network and a commitment to enhancing network safety for cyclists across the region. She is also passionate about the community-building power of cycling and believes in breaking down barriers to ensure the accessibility of cycling to everyone.

When she’s not riding a bike, Leanna is a professional urban planner (RPP/MCIP) who has spent the bulk of her career leading community and land use planning initiatives in Indigenous communities across BC. She brings a wealth of experience designing and facilitating community-led policy development initiatives, and empowering marginalized voices to shape the future of their communities. She looks forward to the prospect of contributing her skills in urban planning, policy development/advocacy, community engagement, and organizational governance to HUB’s initiatives.

Leanna is currently the Director of Planning for Sacred Waters Developments, an economic development company jointly owned by Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo First Nation.

City of North Vancouver - Heather+Rhonda

• Meeting with Staff
  • Last meeting was Sep-20. We will ask for another meeting in late January.

• Upper Levels Greenway
  • Will start with the Lonsdale Ave to St. Andrews Segment first, working with MOTI on intersection improvements at Lonsdale and HWY 1

• Casano Loutet Bridge
  • Will be under construction in early spring 2025 - the city received MOTI approval

• Chesterfield and Midtown routes

HUB North Shore submitted an official letter of support for the staff report on these two routes. Heather attended council to thank staff for this most comprehensive report ever : ) dealing with project risks and realistically handling design in tight spaces

1. Projects/sections

District of West Vancouver - Paul/Peter/Mike

Meeting with District staff on 9 October

• Paul and Peter met in person with the Director of Engineering and Transportation, Jenn Moller, Sean O'Sullivan and Andy Quan.
• Improvements to the intersection of 31st and Marine Drive will be completed in 2025, including bike lanes on Marine Drive through the intersection and a little further west to Radcliffe Ave.
• MUP on the south side of Marine Drive from the Lions Gate Bridge to Capilano Road.
  • The design has been completed but MoTI approval has not yet been granted with a concern being drainage and light poles.
  • DNV is the project manager and DWV is providing some funding.
• A Hadden Drive to Westcot Road MUP is planned for 2025 but MoTI approval is needed as part of it will occupy a traffic lane on the Taylor Way off-ramp from Hwy 1.
• Spirit Trail - some funding left over from the original project has been discovered and could be used to make improvements to that busy section through Ambleside Park east of 13th Street.
• We requested that an " EXCEPT BICYCLES" sign be added to the two "NO ENTRY" signs at the exit from the parking lot in Ambleside Park, which would allow eastbound cyclists to legally pass through that one-way traffic exit from the parking lot to ride on the road to the three hole golf course which has been signed for faster cyclists and is directly adjacent to the Spirit Trail.

Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure - Mike/Don

• Requested a meeting in December
  • Multiple broken sections of Stanely Park Causeway fencing are dangerous and taking months to get fixed
  • Delays approving Marine Drive (LGB to Cap Rd)
  • Will discuss any improvement plans they have for 2025/26
  • Will discuss creating a prioritized list of operations related GAPs to fix
