##'''MSP upgrades''' substantially complete. (MSP = Mount Seymour Parkway)
##'''Phibbs Exchange:''' Please advocate to MoTi for more "lime groves" on that MoTi property
##Phibbs Exchange complete. Although DNV welcomed our feedback there is nothing they can do. Main issue of multiple crossings for bridge access is under MoTI jurisdiction. MoTI is planning flood prevention works below the highway so DNV suggested we reach out.
##Mountain Highway Safety Improvements - limited budget available and now in design. Meeting July 5 to review with DNV.
##'''Mountain Highway Safety Improvements''' - limited budget available and now in design. Meeting July 15 reviewed shows completion of Whitely Court to 14th. May be complete in 2024 as part of repaving.
##Arborlynn connector - working on contract award - expected to start maybe August.
##'''Arborlynn connector''' - expected to start in August. Paint on the ground for improved cross-walk bump-outs and a safer radius at Arborlynn
##'''Debugging the Network'''
##Thanks for all the feedback on debugging the network. Duncan compiled and shared with DNV. Feedback to follow next DNV meeting.
*****Went well. A community effort. A lot of great work went into it, effective communication from bike community!
##Lime bikes pilot to Deep Cove. Plan also for Phibbs. Advocate for MoTI to allow Lime 'grove' on their property.
*****Some portions were CNV, they have been prepared for CNV and recommend doing something like this for each jurisdiction once or twice per year.
*****Liaisons will do best to partition into "maintenance items" vs "capitial items" - needing concrete pouring. Best suited items maintenance crews can implement on their daily rounds.
*****'''[https://www.dnv.org/government-administration/report-problem DNV report a problem web-app]''' works very well too! '''Get a tracking number!''' No need to wait for next "Debug the Network" collection.

'''E-scooters approved'''
*DWV Council voted on July 8 to participate in the BC E-scooter Pilot Project. Paul Stott wrote to Council and spoke at the Council meeting to support the project in principal but noting that the District is seriously deficient in the safe bike routes that e-scooters are obliged to use, and that, despite Council endorsing AT facility expansion as a key element of its transportation strategy, expenditure on AT investments is the lowest on the North Shore in per capita terms with no evident change foreseen in the recently approved 5-year financial plan, and no evident progress with its planned Mobility Study. Meetings with the Directors of the Planning and Engineering Depts are to be arranged in due course.

Wildwood Lane bike route

  • There was an article on local resident's concerns about safety along Wildwood Lane in the 24 July edition of North Shore News. Wildwood Lane is part of a designated bike route (purple lines on this map: https://wiki.bikehub.ca/images/6/67/Wildwood_Lane_bike_route_map.jpg) north of Hwy 1 that has a bike route overpass connection south across Hwy 1 at 11th Street. Here is a photo from Google Maps: https://wiki.bikehub.ca/images/5/53/Wildwood_Lane_bike_route.jpg
  • It was proposed by the former transportation planner, John Calimente, that Wildwood Lane be part of a safer bike route ((multi-use path (MUP)) north of Hwy 1 west to Cypress Village from the currently planned MUP crossing of Taylor Way to Westcot Road.
  • Peter sent an email to Jenn Moller, Director of Engineering and Transportation Services, suggesting that it might be helpful to inform residents of plans to extend a MUP from Westcot Road westward along the length of Wildwood Lane.
  • Getting local residents on board with proposed improved active transportation infrastructure can sometimes be a problem but in this case, it looks like that might not be a problem.

  • DWV Council voted on July 8 to participate in the BC E-scooter Pilot Project.
