- Projects/sections

- Phibbs Exchange complete. Although DNV welcomed our feedback there is nothing they can do. Main issue of multiple crossings for bridge access is under MoTI jurisdiction. MoTI is planning flood prevention works below the highway so DNV suggested we reach out.
- Mountain Highway Safety Improvements - limited budget available and now in design. Meeting July 5 to review with DNV.
- Arborlynn connector - working on contract award - expected to start maybe August.
- Thanks for all the feedback on debugging the network. Duncan compiled and shared with DNV. Feedback to follow next DNV meeting.
- Lime bikes pilot to Deep Cove. Plan also for Phibbs. Advocate for MoTI to allow Lime 'grove' on their property.
District of West Vancouver - Paul/Peter/Mike
12 April Howe Sound Forum discussion re: a Howe Sound multi-purpose trail
- This meeting presented Mayor Sager with an opportunity to follow up with his proposal for a MUP between Horseshoe Bay and Whistler.
- On behalf of DWV, the mayor hosted this semi-annual forum and arranged for BC Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lana Popham to attend.
- The Minister presented her ideas and seeks feedback on the concept of a long-distance (100km+) multi-use trail between Vancouver and Pemberton.
- She set a goal of compiling options and issues for discussion in July 2024.
- The forum participants were separated into several round table groups to consider the proposal options and raise questions.
- The Minister’s proposal was generally well received by the meeting participants, both as a low-carbon tourism initiative and for its economic benefits.
- The possible trail routes and their likely costs and possible public and private funding sources were discussed.
- The Mayor of Squamish informed the forum of the advanced work already in place for a trail between Pemberton and Squamish, and the ongoing planning for a link between Squamish and Lions Bay.
- Several speakers however expressed concern about visitor growth and overuse impacts on indigenous and natural assets.
- Here is Paul's draft report of the meeting: https://wiki.bikehub.ca/images/a/a5/2024-04-12_Howe_Sound_Forum_Draft_Report.pdf
