*no funding for wayfinding but they are looking for ways to include this at some point
*At Windsor Plywood, they are proposing sharing the existing sidewalk with pedestrians and cyclists west of Kennard. West of there, they plan to separate out cyclists by removing the existing trees and adding a bike lane in the grassed area. Cyclists would then use the existing sidewalk.

<!--'''E-Bike Share'''
*Lime is swapping out their fleet with their newest generation of e-bikes. These bikes have better power for steep hills (but have the same speed restrictions), better battery life, and their hardware will help Lime improve parking compliance in North Van. Increase in helmets on the bikes, but feedback on helmets has been limited thus far. Looking to collect more feedback and data re: helmet use, user perceptions, etc. soon. Plan is to have trip data publicly available.

<!--'''CNV Mobility Strategy'''
*Strategy endorsed by Council on April 11 2022. Beyond ongoing initiatives, staff have been undertaking research and analysis on a number of new initiatives along with socializing some of this initial material with citizen committees. These initiatives include:
**Reducing neighbourhood speed limits: Vehicle speeds are one component of developing safe streets, alongside street design, enforcement, and education. Establishing safe vehicle speeds on local streets is an important first step to addressing safety issues, and comes with limited negative impacts (i.e. a negligible difference in vehicle travel times). Staff will be looking to return to Council in early 2023 with recommended signage options for consideration for establishing safe and comfortable conditions on local streets.
**Modernizing Transportation Requirements for New Developments: The City requires Transportation Studies and travel demand management (TDM) measures for most new multi-unit developments in the City. These requirements have some deficiencies that are leading to inconsistent outcomes. Updates are being planned for these requirements that will better align with goals from the Mobility Strategy, including how new developments will support emissions reduction, reductions in vehicle demand, and reductions in VKT. These are also anticipated to be brought forward in early 2023.
**Updating the Resident & Visitor Parking Policy: The City has a parking policy to help reduce external parking pressure on residential streets near to commercial areas. There are several equity/access issues with RVPP given the ongoing changes to how people move around the City. An update to the RVPP to address inequities and better align with the Mobility Strategy will be brought to Council for consideration in early 2023.

*planning for this will most likely start in December/January

Forbes
*larger changes are intended at this intersection but dependent on discussions with the Squamish Nation
*Nation is open to changes to reduce traffic cut through but discussions are currently slow. Any significant change would require excavation and this is the site of a former residential school, and therefore there are larger implications that need to be considered

'''Protected bike lanes on Marine Drive between 26th and 31st Streets'''
'''Meetings with DWV staff on Monday, 6 March'''
*We have received and reviewed preliminary engineer drawings for this project
*Paul and Peter met online with Jenn Moller, Director; Sean O’Sullivan, Traffic Operations Engineer; and Andy Kwan, Deputy Director, Engineering & Transportation Services.
*Despite the project name "MARINE DRIVE PROTECTED BIKE LANE" the painted bike lanes on each side of the road with a painted buffer are really not adequately protected from automobile traffic.
*Westmount Road project
*We feel the proposals, unfortunately, fall somewhat short of the AAA-user standards desired by HUB and required for TransLink’s MBR funding support, and we suggest the following ideas to strengthen the proposals:
**Work starts during spring break and they plan to remove approach islands to the roundabout and may even remove the roundabout after consulting with Blue Bus.
**It would have been helpful to know the annual average daily vehicle and bicycle traffic volumes and trends along this section of Marine Drive.
**Related project work further down on Thompson Crescent will be delayed until the summer.
**Narrow the vehicular lanes to reduce traffic speeds and adopt a 30km/h speed limit, and use the additionally available width to widen the bike lane.
*Bike lanes on Marine Drive between 26th and 31st Streets
**The buffer strip be supplemented by adding flexible delineator posts to more clearly define and protect the roadway allocated to cyclists and add surface-mounted curbs at the beginning of the bike lane.
**It is currently planned to proceed just with painted bike lanes and a painted buffer, despite our preference to see buffered bike lanes with delineator poles installed. We suggested to at least put in some kind of physical separation at the beginning of the painted bike lanes.
**Obtain specialized cleaning equipment for bike lanes, especially for snow removal.
*It is planned to present the project to Council later this month and we are preparing a HUB letter with qualified support for the project.
**Providing a pedestrian crossing at 30th Street would seem important in accessing the sole pedestrian route along the south side of Marine Drive.
*Separated bike lane on the south side of Maine Drive between the Lions Gate Bridge and Capilano Road.
**25th to 26th Street appears to be a separate consideration to the 26th-31st proposals but would be crucial to providing bike access to the Dundarave commercial area as well as the continuity of the possible MBR. The retention of shared lanes with sharrows is noted but vehicular lane narrowing would be relevant here as well as the adoption of the cross-section used between 26th and 30th Streets.
**To accommodate the separated bike lane, the traffic lane nearest to the curb needs to be narrowed so approval is being sought from MoTI.
**We endorse the proposed prohibition of on-street parking along the westbound lane between 25th to 26th Street but suggest that the proposed painted separation for use by pedestrians and cyclists is quite inadequate and potentially dangerous. We would prefer to see a sidewalk as well as a separated, buffered bike lane with delineator poles installed.
*Budget approval - The District has approved and reduced the budget for this coming year, but there was no change in the $595,000 set aside for Active Transportation which includes a $50,00o grant from TransLink. Some of this money will go to extending the Hugo Ray MUP west and across Taylor Way.
'''Meetings with DWV staff'''
*Slow Streets Project- will be presented to Council in early May.
*On Tuesday, 28 February, Paul and Peter met with Heather Keith, Climate Action and Environmental Manager and Jenn Moller to discuss how improved cycling infrastructure can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the District.
*Mobility Plan - a new consultant will be hired to update the District's 2010 Strategic Transportation Plan and Terms of Reference have been prepared.
*On Monday, 6 March, we plan to meet online with Jenn Moller, Director; Sean O’Sullivan, Traffic Operations Engineer; and Andy Kwan, Deputy Director, Engineering & Transportation Services.
