The North Shore committee of HUB: Your Cycling Connection is dedicated to enhancing the safety and feasibility of using bicycles for transportation in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Bowen Island and Lions Bay. This includes commuting to work and school, shopping, personal trips and any other short to medium length journeys.

  • HUB Vote to Bike survey results of municipal candidates
  • North Shore municipal councils voting record on transportation plans and cycling projects:

Ironworkers Memorial Bridge scheduled sidewalk closures

  • Long term closure of the East sidewalk January to December 2014 for construction of new, wider sidewalk
  • West sidewalk is used by all cyclists and pedestrians during this time
  • Please ride with caution and obey signs

Assessment rides

Periodically HUB North Shore holds assessment rides to help familiarize members with issues and locations of concern. For more information on past rides please refer to the Group Rides page.

How to participate

Participating in HUB is as simple as joining us at our monthly North Shore Meetings, participating in Group Rides, contributing to our Email List or joining us at various events. If you want to help contribute to this Wiki page get to know us first then register for an account. Most importantly, get on your bike and ride!

North Shore bike map

The free pocket folding map is available at North Shore community and rec centres, libraries, municipal halls and many bike shops. The pdf version for download is available on the HUB website. To develop the map HUB North Shore received a grant from Mountain Equipment Co-op and financial support from the City of North Vancouver. The 2013 update and printing of the map was funded by TravelSmart, the District of North Vancouver and the City of North Vancouver.

  • The District of North Vancouver is also responsible for maintaining paths and sidewalks in MoTI jurisdiction, including Mount Seymour Parkway bike path, ramp between Fern St and Orwell St

District of West Vancouver

  • Path from Curling Rd through Klahanie Park and under Marine Drive to Lions Gate Bridge sidewalk is maintained by West Vancouver
  • Welch Street and the Spirit Trail through the Squamish Capilano Reserve are maintained by West Vancouver

Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI)

  • Mainroad carries out maintenance for MoTI

  • Vancouver is responsible for maintaining the Cassiar Bikeway to IWMB, the path from the Cassiar Bikeway to N Skeena St, and the N Skeena St sidewalk through the tunnel
