- Some things you may want to consider when completing the survey:
- Priorities we suggest:
- 1. Safety for people should be a higher priority than parking.
- 2. Ungap the map = A connected network of routes to access all the places safely, quickly, and efficiently for people walking, and people on bikes - at least as connected a network - if not more so - than for people in cars.
- 3. While the concept of balance is important. The past 100 years of car-focused development and people walking and people riding bikes shunted to small sections of public-right-of-way demonstrates there is a lot of space to be returned to people walking, people on bikes, and transit - than is currently occupied by car & truck use. So true balance, will not hesitate to take space from car & truck use when needed, as we are currently so out-of-balance.
- Option Selection we suggest:
- Our priority selection order is: Options 1, then 2, and then 3.
- We find option 2 and 3 acceptable, but less desirable. Option 2 requires a safe crossings - perhaps a light at Kilmer. Option 3 on Hoskins is quite steep - so downhill speeds on Hoskins will make cars/trucks exiting driveways with limited visibility (big hedges at or over the property-line) a potentially deadly hazard. For both road options there are a large number of driveways and thus the mobility lanes will be hard to protect.
- For this reason for Option 1, 2, and 3: Signage on the downhill leg should read every 200 metres: "People on bikes may take the full lane"
- Our priority selection order is: Options 1, then 2, and then 3.
