District of North Vancouver
- Update on ACDI - HUB meeting on Brooksbank Intersection
- Giacomo, Tony and Antje were at the meeting two weeks ago.
- We were contacted, gave them our feedback and our suggestions were accepted. (see our 25 January HUB letter at: http://wiki.bikehub.ca/northshore/index.php?title=Letters_to_governments)
- Update on Meeting with MoTI review of Phibbs Exchange

- Follow up with DNV on Phibbs Exchange designs
- There was a meeting on Skype (Erika was there).
- We suggested a bike path across Main Street and then over to Orwell.
- We also suggested a tunnel for cyclists to circle under Hwy1 on the south side of Main st.
- We sent them a letter and the District is going to rework the design.
- Orwell Street Bikeway
- We sent a 31 January letter in support of the District of North Vancouver’s BikeBC Grant application to construct the Orwell Street Bikeway (see:http://wiki.bikehub.ca/northshore/index.php?title=Letters_to_governments).
2018 DNV repaving list/ budget spending
- Tony wrote an informal request but has not received a response.
- Maplewood Plan - HUB by Invitation Only Attendance (Darwin Properties and the Tsleil-Waututh Nation)
- We received an invitation to a meeting to better understand the Active Transportation values related to the North Shore Innovation District site (ie. Maplewood Northlands).
- A date for the meeting in March in the old international school has not yet been set.
- Engaging with First Nations
- It was suggested that we get a First Nation contact and invite that person to come to one of our meetings.
- Tony got a contact from Chief Ian Campbell but no follow-up.
- Tammy knows of a mountain biker that perhaps could help us in making a contact.
District of West Vancouver
- Park Royal Plan/Wardance Bridge update - see: File:2017-12-13 email to Ms Leemhuis.pdf.
- According to Park Royal, they are engaging a peer review company to review the existing plan for widening the sidewalk and they feel that it can be wider than in the original plan.
- It is planned to start construction this spring.
- Drawings of proposals for 20 February meeting with Engineering & Transportation staff

City of North Vancouver
- Jan 26 meeting with Tony and Michael Epp (Director of Planning)
- New org structure which now includes Land Use and Transportation with planning and operations being separate.
- It was pointed out that the bike lane in the 300 block of Esplanade west is too narrow.
- We emphasized that construction signs should not be placed in bike lanes – the city is preparing document which we haven't seen yet.(suggest to HUB HQ the idea of provincial guidelines).
- We should consider getting a HUB-NS rep on the Integrated Transportation Planning Committee
- The possibility a bike share on the North Shore was mentioned.
- Jan 15th Council Meeting supported a bylaw amendment for elephant's feet in crosswalks - see our letter: [1].
- 13th east of Lonsdale will be done when south side of 13th redevelopment is complete.
- Construction Guidelines for Bike Lane Closures - to assist in ensuring bike safety when bike lanes are closed due to construction - we anticipate them being completed in fall - need to follow up.
- New gap: two blocks of 16th Street West, in North Vancouver, between Marine Drive and Fell Ave.
- Green Necklace Jones to Chesterfield is complete with a flashing crosswalk at 21st.
Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
- BC Ferries Committee Formation [2]
- Input requested for a major renovation of the Horseshoe Bay terminal - see:https://www.bcferries.com/about/hsbvision/.
- We need to draft a letter for our input regarding cycling infrastructure at the Horseshoe Bay terminal - Peter S will draft one.
- We need standards for cycling infrastructure – we should get access to TAC guidelines that were updated in 2016 - Paul will follow up.
Other Letters or Actions Required
- Spirit Trail baffles at Pemberton and Welch – need a video of a family with a bike trailer.
- 2012 Bike Masterplan Updates: 3rd Street / 2nd Street / Mahon -> Planned for 2018
