Presentation regarding PCI development at Moody Centre Skytrain
Heather McCauley/ Dimitri (Pottinger Bird) presented. They have been working with the Moody TOD group to design the framework of what the Moody Centre area is going to look like. A couple of landowners including PCI are working on a proposal for the area on Spring Street just north of Spring and east of SkyTrain. Towards this project specifically, they have been working with Tims Welsh and Davidson from the HUB consulting arm.
PCI has also been working on TOD in Surrey (King George) and Vancouver (Marine Gateway)
Some features of the project:
- primarily rental, 0.5 parking spaces per unit.
- 5% below market, ~30 stories
- Low cost Artists studios coming back, fronting on Slaughterhouse Creek (daylit)
- Pedestrian oriented Spring Street
- Pedestrian bridge across RR/Skytrain to connect with a PCI development on the other side
- More trees and street stuff
- Transit plaza to improve on the existing Moody Centre SkyTrain
- Grocery store fronting on the trainsit plaza
- Carsharing? Micromobility? There will be eight Modo spaces on L1, accessible to people who don't live in the building
- 1400 bike parking stalls initially proposed. Since then they engaged the HUB consulting arm to find out why such facilities have been unused around other PCI developments. Enhanced security, etc.
- Moving most residential parking stalls down to P4 and providing a dedicated bike elevator with key fob entry etc.
- Looking at a bike sharing system as well.
- Golden Spike Lane will be used to direct commercial traffic etc off the newly pedestrianized Spring St but PCI want to make it OK to cycle on too.
Where they are: PCI submitted their application in July, had an applicant open house, went through a nunber of city committees, moving
- Action item: Andrew to contact the HUB consulting arm offering input
- Action item: Andrew to nominate Coquitlam for the Guildford micro-mobility corridor
- Andrew to nominate Colin and Colleen for an award.
