HUB TriCities Chapter Meeting

1. Information updates: Sheep Paddocks trail in Colony Farms. See http://www.metrovancouver.org/services/parks/projects/colony-farm-sheep-paddocks-trail/Pages/default.aspx. Jack described the project. The Multi use trail is in the design phase and construction will commence 2015/16.

2. Plan presentation to Coquitlam council. Topics for presentation to be determined at meeting

a. Connectivity from the Port Mann Bridge crossing to other routes in Coquitlam

b. United Blvd. Fawcett to King Edward

c. Victoria Drive

d. Extending Invitation to councillors to participate in a ride on either Monday May 25 - the first day of Bike to Work Week and Bike Day in Canada. A Bike to work Station will be in Coquitlam at Foster and Poirier that afternoon. Alternatively, there will be a Bike to Work station at Guildfod and Lansdowne on the afternoon of Tuesday May 26.

e. Off road Bicycle Path along Guildford to accommodate young cyclists who are not ready to ride along the road. The idea was proposed by L Lebrun. (Many were interested in the proposal and Leon was asked to provide more information.) There was some discussion on how to make a good presentation. The presentation should take about 5 minutes and have a lot of visual information. The presentation will have more impact if the council members have questions.

3. Finalize date for second assessment ride to Port Mann bridge area. It was decided to put off an assessment ride until after the presentation to Coquitlam City Council.

4. Further discussion of HUB Regional Action Plan: HUB is currently working on the Regional Action Plan for 2015 and would like to include a few priorities from each region. Document is on google drive: https://drive.google.com/?tab=wo&authuser=0#folders/0Bwcpk6TedgAnRzJqSlYxSHBUcmc Biking though the Riverview lands should be included as the roads are already present

5. AOB

a. Discussed when the Port Mann Bridge will be open to cyclists. It appears to be ready. It was suggested that the PMH1 bridge might be opened for International trails and National Health and Fitness Days, or, Bike to work week and Bike Day in Canada

b. Wheel to Heal fundraiser. HUB TriCities will be involved this year.

c. H Harvey handed out information flyers detailing the advantages of the Mayors Council’s plan for improving cycling in the region.

d. The Better Transit and Transportation Coalition will be holding an event for ‘Yes’ supporters this Thursday, Feb. 5 at 12:00 pm at the Segal Building at Granville and Pender in Vancouver.
