Minutes:
1. Dave D went to the BCCC conference and gave us some updates:

2. Dave D has agreed to have his name stand as a board member of the BCCC. Thanks Dave.
3. Claude T provided updates on the PoCo cycling advisory group meeting: -Kingsway MUP is not happening in the immediate future. Loss of momentum? -PoCo has agreed to provide a mini MUP on Kingsway at the choke-point at Broadway. -Still no sharrows in the narrow part of Kingsway (promised by PoCo engineering) -Victoria street: MUP to be built on north side. Shared with Coquitlam -Proposed Lincoln connector bridge is a long way off -Shaunessy tunnel under train tracks for peds/cyclists is a long way off ($2M)
4. Port Moody updates: -some new bike markings Heritage blvd.
5. Assessment ride planned for United blvd to address the issue of a temporary path between King Edward and Brigantine
Update: Ride occurred on November 22. In attendance: Arno S, Peter J, Simon W, Jack T, Andrew H Observations: Rode from New west border along United blvd to new PMH1 infrastructure -New West/Coquitlam Bailey bridge is almost complete. Temporary MUP is on the south side. We hope the final alignment is on the north side to align with the proposed New West MUP:) -Rode United sidewalk as planned. It is narrow in places, but represents a feasible route for risk averse cyclists. Note that the proximity to the road makes it potentially hazardous in case of ped/cyclist interactions. -Rode along Hartley to Fawcett. -Nice new bike lane connects Fawcett to intersection of United and Mary Hill bypass -Road up to check out new bike lane on PM bridge. Bridge lane is finished. Awaiting paving of access ramps. Not as steep as feared initially. -West bound connector to Lougheed is quite narrow (one way, cyclists only) Rode along Maryhill bypass. Noted that shoulder is very narrow at the Coquitlam river bridge. Need to provide access to existing sidewalk over bridge eastbound.
Next meeting: 2 Dec 2014, Coquitlam Library,Town Center branch, 7-8:45PM
