Public Input
-upcoming DNV workshop Monday Feb. 6, 2023 5 pm. HUB has submitted a letter. Attendees may not have time to provide input.

Goals and Objectives
-Increased communications. (Thanks to Rueben for social media support).
- 3 infrastructure routes; Main2Marine, Harbour to headwaters, peak to creek.

Presentation
-Sophia introduced Brandon Green to present a slide outline of the proposed Midtown connector.
-Connector project is in it’s early stages.
-Staff have provided an update on the CNV “state of cycling”. Brandon will provide a link.
-Context for improvements includes asking the questions “What does AAA mean?, “Who are we serving?”.
-Next priorities after Midtown connector are St. Davids and Chesterfield.

Discussion from the floor:
Erika- Lonsdale would be the best used improvement.
Don- Intersections need to be emphasized.
Duncan- 30 km/hr zones would be the best improvement.
Heather- Would an “off Broadway” approach be best.
Paul Stott- Can we avoid tiny concrete islands at intersections?

DNV
-HUB sent letter regarding budget deferral proposals. Published by North Shore Daily Post.
- Budget workshop date moved to Feb 14/23. Looks like 4 councillors will support micro mobility funding be retained.
-East 29th proposal referred to a workshop as vote on motion was 3-3 with one councillor asking for more time to study.
-Infrastructure improvements coming for area at Harbourfront mall.
-Hunter street bridge now open.
-R2 bus service being extended east to Gladstone.

Discussion from the floor:
-Stephen Lake asked for an update on Spirit Trail extension to Deep Cove:
-There are 3 proposed routes to Deep Cove; Dollarton, Seymour Parkway, or an interior “recreational” route (Spirit Trail).
-Best course of action was articulated as attending council meetings, polite but persistent e-mail correspondence, and the occasional thank you message as projects are realized.

DWV
-There is a proposed tax increase of 6% that could affect funding for cycling initiatives.
-There are several planned routes that have “problems”.
-Work is scheduled for the Westmount/31 street route.
-The school district is performing an audit on safety in school zones.
-A proposal for separated infrastructure on Marine Drive from 25-31 streets will be voted on in April. Hub to provide a letter to council.
-Peter pointed out there is virtually no separated infrastructure in DWV. One block added on Marine in conjunction with a new development.
