Coquitlam River Bridge on Mary Hill Bypass, Provincial road 7b
Problem:
Shoulder widths are very narrow particularly for eastbound. High vehicle velocity makes this unsafe for cyclists. Lane widths on either side of bridge are acceptable, indeed they are marked as a bike route on the Coquitlam side. Lanes were upgraded as part of the PMH1 project.
Recommendations: This is a challenging spot. The bridge is really too narrow to accommodate more width for shoulders. Ideal solution would be to hand a MUP on the north side. $$$
