This is a challenging spot. The bridge is really too narrow to accommodate more width for shoulders. Ideal solution would be to hand a MUP on the north side. $$$

Location:

Coquitlam River Bridge on Mary Hill Bypass, Provincial road 7b

Problem:

Shoulder widths are very narrow particularly for eastbound. High vehicle velocity makes this unsafe for cyclists. Lane widths on either side of bridge are acceptable, indeed they are marked as a bike route on the Coquitlam side. Lanes were upgraded as part of the PMH1 project.

Recommendations: This is a challenging spot. The bridge is really too narrow to accommodate more width for shoulders. Ideal solution would be to have a MUP on the south side.
