1. What modes of transportation do you normally use within Metro Vancouver? Do you ever use a bike for transportation in your municipality?

Car....2002 Honda Odyssey

2. How would you support and encourage cycling for transportation to promote healthy and livable communities?

We have identified in our OCP and municipal policies a multi use transportation plan, including commuter and recreational cycling routes. We continue to expand our work to implement the Spirit Trail, we identify new routes for recreational and commuter cycling, and support programs and events.

3. Do you think the current level of funding for cycling in your municipality is adequate?

No, we need to re allocate funds within existing budgets to properly fund high use commuter cycling routes.

4. What would you do to ensure a sustainable and adequate source of cycling funding during your term in office?

Our commitment to implement our OCP visions and goals, and fund cycling lanes based on those visions of sustainable development is one way, in many cases redevelopment of key areas in the District will bring more cycling lanes.....

5. What is your level of interest in a public bike-share system integrated with the transit system?

There are pros and cons, where it is safe, with enough room, the two can co exist.....we need to look at separation on busy, congested roads, however geographically that can sometimes present challenges.

6. What role do you think the municipality has in supporting and promoting cycling education for children, cyclists and motorists?

With hopes that we will improve our website and increase mapping for all transportation and recreational routes, we need to continue to advocate for alternative transportation.

7. How can residents and the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition-North Shore provide useful, systematic input and feedback on cycling in the District of North Vancouver now that the District no longer participates in the Joint Bicycle Advisory Committee?

Pay attention to local municipal websites for meetings and workshops discussing transportation....we may present something and you may be able to improve on it with input......speaking at council meetings....communicating with members of council, take part in local events, community days etc.
