Presentation from Geoffrey Keyworth on Moray Street Traffic Calming

As part of the paving in 2020 Port Moody narrowed Moray Street downhill lane (with opposite side bike lane added) And added a speed reader sign downhill

Summer 2021, public engagement survey October 2021, public information session

Later improvements included an uphill speed reader sign City is looking at how to move forward with this project.

Hoping to take a report to Council in 2022 City is interested in doing pilot approach to traffic calming (quick experiments that let people experience changes to inform more permanent decisions)

Mr. Keyworth discussed a variety of traffic calming techniques, with individual pros and cons. Examples: - speed humps - raised islands - lateral shifts of the centreline

Interested in removing the southbound bike lane :-( And narrowing existing facilities. The idea is that cyclists would take alternate routes up Clearview.

Committee didn't really like the idea of making less space available to cyclists than ever along Moray/ Thermal, in the absence of really good alternatives.

Meeting with HUB regarding MOTI routes and Mary Hill Bypass

"It's complicated". Environmental and First Nations issues. Plus many jurisdictions involved. Colin found that original MHB probably rammed through with very little input from Kwikwitlem. Mud pit path belongs to Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. Maqabeak is a ROW for a Port Mann water supply pump station. Creepy underpass is Canadian Pacific Railway land, then a bit belongs to the forensic psychiatric hospital. Colin got in contact with Drew Hart regarding use of forensic psychiatric hospital.


United followup

United: City hasn't got space for a MUP. They want to create a bylaw that makes it easier.

Coquitlam transportation plan updates

Colin wrote a letter that Mayor Stewart forwarded around to a few different places.

Go By Bike Week 2021 report

Kyle, Mario and Jeremy are three local pro-bike reporters. Andrew was interviewed by Kyle. Colin presented a draft of his report.

Sasamat Greenway

Colleen did a presentation to Metro Vancouver Parks on our Sasamat Greenway proposal. She is interested in tying in the Sasamat Greenway with Great Blue Heron Way. Diana Dilworth interested. The Valley Trail in Whistler is a good model.

Morguard meeting update

Burquitlam Plaza redevelopment. Interested in limited car access. Interested in alignment with Regan Greenway via Hobbis Way. Interested in limiting the amount of car parking, bringing in bike share/ ebike share/ bike shop. Oakdale: changing transportation plan due to density plans.

Trans Mountain meeting update

It was OK. Not much in the way of concrete advantages for our committee. Andrew, Leon and Colleen all went.

Updates on previous letters

Not much yet, for letters on construction policies, Guildford Greenway, Murray Street, Pinetree Way nor Burquitlam Plaza signange. Jaime Boan emailed Selina Robinson with a list of priorities but nothing concrete.

Jeff emailed Colin about it. Jeff and Colin have had a series of meetings, calls and emails. In progress.

Committee resolved to expand our gaps to Top Ten.

Advocacy buddies

Colin suggested that members maintain personal lists of people they can contact to write into cities.

Follow up to meeting with Gavin Davidson

Gavin is going to update the HUB map of local infrastructure and send it to Vince, who will share it with the group.
