Colin, Vince, Dragana, Andrew, Alicia, Thomas, Payvand, Cindy

Presentation from Coquitlam

  • Coquitlam provided an overview of future plans on routes such as Nelson and Guildford, as well as maze gate removal updates.
  • It was noted there is no update on United Boulevard.

Report of the Co-Chair (Colin)

  • Noted Kingsway MUP from Tyner to Kebet Way is out for tender.

Report of the Co-Chair (Andrew)

  • Noted ongoing construction of St. John's MUP, including a connection along Moody to the overpass. Scope includes curb bulbs and intersection narrowing.
  • Noted Port Moody is conceptualizing plans to make intersection changes at Ioco/Guildford/Murrary, including removal of slip lanes. The project would need to integrate with the future Guildford improvements in Port Moody and will likely be experimental in nature.
    • It was noted that pilot slip lane removal has been done in some cases using bollards and paint. This could tie in with Port Moody's City of the Arts mantra.
  • Action Item: Andrew to write letter to Port Moody regarding Ioco/Guildford slip lane removal.

Report of the Infrastructure Lead (Vince)

  • Vince has discussed updating the gap spreadsheet with Jeff Leigh. Intent is to align gap segments with municipal project boundaries to ensure easier tracking.
  • Noted we should add Nelson to the Top 10 Gap Map if Coquitlam is pursuing it. A motion to combine Gap 6 (Western Perimeter Trail extension) and Gap 9 (Mariner Way to Colony Farm Road) and use the new space to add Nelson Avenue between King Albert and Mackin Park carried successfully.
  • Action Item: Colin to update Upcoming Projects map
  • Action Item: Vince to update Gap spreadsheet to align with project map
  • Action Item: Colin to send new writeup for Gap #6 and #9 to Dragana
  • Action Item: Dragana to update gap map
  • Action Item: Colin to update Wiki screenshot and writeups, as well as map in the New Member Brochure, following map adjustments.

Committee Budget

  • Vince suggested using $600 yearly budget on training related to ride leading to ensure we have this capacity.
  • Action item: Colin to ask Cathy what other committees spending this on, and what we would need to become ride leaders.

Right Turn on Red

  • Dragana noted both Burnaby and Vancouver have passed motions regarding right turns on red.
  • This item may require further discussion with others given momentum.
  • Action item: Colin to discuss with Cathy

Snow Response

  • Dragana has created a document indicating snow response in each city. Dragana requested a map and data from Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, and Port Moody.
  • Port Moody and Port Coquitlam both provided a map of priority sidewalks and MUPs for snow clearing. Coquitlam did not provide one.
  • Further, Coquitlam's form for submitting snow clearing requests only indicates roadways with no way to select sidewalks, MUPs, or bike lanes.
  • Noted Coquitlam tracks snow clearing in real time for roads but not sidewalks, MUPs, or bike lanes.
  • Vince notes importance of clearing routes to school, i.e. sidewalks.
  • Action item: Dragana to perform minor confidentiality edits and send to Colin
  • Action item: Colin to upload to Wiki

Action Plan Update

  • Brief discussion ensued. Largely supportive of proposed changes. Committee decided to change "kept appraised of developments" to "Keep appraised of survey and feedback opportunities".
  • Noted boothing at 3 events may be difficult but HUB should update booth materials, including a map of HUB's work to date, and work more closely to present these at booths such as Bike to Work Week.
  • Action item: Colin to build map of HUB's achievements to date.

Misc

  • Noted HUB Central will be hosting an Advance Your Ride session next month. This will provide us the opportunity to host our own assessment rides.
  • Vince suggests we host an assessment ride this summer. Colin to add to agenda.
