Hi Heather!
Please see answers below...

1. What modes of transportation do you normally use within Metro Vancouver? Bus, bike and (small) car. Do you ever use a bike for transportation in your municipality?

Yes, I (as well as my husband and kids) use our bikes often for transportation.

2. How would you support and encourage cycling for transportation to promote healthy and livable communities?

Support VACC, add bike lanes (or at least cycling road markings) wherever possible, complete the Spirit Trail, improve safety issues for cyclists where necessary, promote public education encouraging cycling for transportation.

3. Do you think the current level of funding for cycling in your municipality is adequate?

Funding has improved recently, but is not adequate.

4. What would you do to ensure a sustainable and adequate source of cycling funding during your term in office?

I would strongly advocate the recommendations of the Strategic Transportation Plan (2010) wherein the priority (and therefore budget) of the WV municipal transportation department is shifted away from single occupancy vehicles toward supporting cycling, pedestrians and public transit.

5. What is your level of interest in a public bike-share system integrated with the transit system?

In general, my level of interest is high, although this would be a very tough-sell in West Vancouver.

6. What role do you think the municipality has in supporting and promoting cycling education for children, cyclists and motorists?

In collaboration with the school board, local police, neighbouring municipalities, ICBC and the provincial government, the municipality can play a major role in cycling education. School programs, community programs, advertising, mail-outs and signage are some examples.
