HUB North Shore Committee regular meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Everybody is welcome.

  • Future routes and priorities
    • Other Local Committees have talked to the Municipal Staff to find out what is planned and then done assessment rides on the route to provide as input.
    • While other Local Committees have done more social rides to attract membership and show off good existing routes.


City of North Vancouver - Rhonda/Easton/Jacob

  • Meeting with Staff
    • Last meeting was Sep-20. We will ask for another meeting in late January.
  • Esplanade
    • Advanced walk at Esplanade and Lonsdale
  • Upper Levels Greenway
    • Will start with the Lonsdale Ave to St. Andrews Segment first, working with MOTI on intersection improvements at Lonsdale and HWY 1
  • Casano Loutet Bridge
    • Will be under construction in early spring 2025 - the city received MOTI approval
  • Chesterfield and Midtown routes
    • HUB North Shore submitted an official letter of support for the staff report on these two routes.
    • Heather attended council to thank staff for this most comprehensive report ever : ) dealing with project risks and realistically handling design in tight spaces


District of North Vancouver - Duncan/Stephen/Stewart/Mike G

  • Regular meeting with DNV staff April 11
    • Ungap the map for next DNV meeting - comments welcome e.g., Lynn Valley Road (by the mall)
  • Mtn Hwy safety improvements.
    • Still no consensus. Staff to revise plan again. No action for Hub at this time and instead focus on alternative routes.
    • Issue so caught up with congestion at bottom of Mtn Hwy that very challenging to resolve.
    • Lessons learnt on messaging to try to decouple from the Mountain Highway Safety Improvements.
  • Arbolynn alternative - Inter-River park
  • LGB Marine Drive
    • moving to construction!! This should be celebrated by Hub as multi-jurisdictional etc.


District of West Vancouver - Peter/Mike C

  • BC Ferries has contracted HUB Cycling's Bike Friendly Buildings team to gather user perspectives about using their services for cycling transportation.
  • Peter has volunteered to participate in a HUB focus group on BC Ferries with potential dates being Apr 28, Apr 29, May 5 or May 6 in the evening. No finalized date has yet been set.
  • Nothing else to report this month.

First Nations - Kira

  • Generate summaries of their cycling related goals and then add assessment of how this aligns with our goals. Also how this aligns with neighbouring muni's plans.
    • Develop strategy how to move forward.


Ministry of Transportation & Frustration - Mike C/Don

  • Requesting a meeting but still no response yet
    • Multiple broken sections of Stanley Park Causeway fencing have finally been fixed, asked how this could happen faster in the future,
    • Will discuss any improvement plans they have for 2025/26
    • Will discuss creating a prioritized list of operations related GAPs to be fixed

  • let us know if there is something we should communicate about - blocked bike lanes, new infrastructure, etc.

Schools - Paul

  • Community Center programs have expanded from Trout Lake (Vancouver), Thompson Community Center (Richmond) and coming soon Lafarge Lake (Tri Cities).

      • Special Womens
