Election 2011: Cyndi Gerlach

1. What modes of transportation do you normally use within Metro Vancouver?

A personal vehicle. I used to ride my bike everywhere when prior to children! However, this is just not possible for me right now. I still like to get out for a ride when I can.

2. How would you support and encourage parents and children to cycle to school to promote healthy and livable communities?

I support the idea of having students using their bikes more to get to and from school; however, I also believe that we need to do more to ensure that all students have proper road safety instruction before heading out onto our streets, as bicyclists are considered a vehicle on the road.

3. What role do you think the school board has in supporting and promoting cycling education and training for children?

I fully support promoting cycling education and training for all children. Providing this valuable education makes for safer streets, promotes healthy life styles, and helps our students make environmentally responsible choices.
