Answers to your questions.

1. What modes of transportation do you normally use within Metro Vancouver? Do you ever use a bike for transportation in your municipality?

I live in West Vancouver and work downtown. I alternate between cycling to work and taking the bus. I also often bike to go shopping locally, to go to community facilities like the community centre and to get exercise (Horseshoe Bay and Cypress mostly).

2. How would you support and encourage cycling for transportation to promote healthy and livable communities?

I would support cycling for transportation by supporting more carefully designed bike lanes or paths where appropriate and by ensuring there are ample places to secure bikes in the commercial areas.

3. Do you think the current level of funding for cycling in your municipality is adequate?

I don't know exactly how much funding is put towards cycling projects in WV so I can't comment on the adequacy of the funds. Good progress has been made on the Spirit Trail, with District support.

4. What would you do to ensure a sustainable and adequate source of cycling funding during your term in office?

I would look to alternate sources of funding to supplement the District's contribution. This could include partnerships, sponsorships, etc.

5. What is your level of interest in a public bike-share system integrated with the transit system?

I have really enjoyed bike share programs in other cities. I don't know how well it would work in West Vancouver. Much of the District is very steep and difficult cycling. I would be open to considering it.

6. What role do you think the municipality has in supporting and promoting cycling education for children, cyclists and motorists?

I think the schools are a natural place to promote cycling education for children. I think the Province is best suited to educate cyclists and motorists generally but the District could also get involved to educate on local issues.
