TransLink is working with the Province to develop design guidelines for floating bus stops. There is an established province-wide working group that has been participating in the project for the last year. |

TransLink is now inviting the City of North Vancouver to test some of the potential design interventions as a physical pilot project. The pilot stops in our community are on Esplanade and Forbes. The pilot bus stops will be live in October-November 2023. Preliminary guidance is expected from TransLink in early 2024. All guidance is being developed within the context of the Victoria Human Rights ruling of the Pandora Street bus stop. Guidance is also informed by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards for accessible navigation infrastructure. |

'''Hadden Drive to Westcot Rd Planned MUP''' |
'''8 August meeting with DWV Transportation staff''' |
*Sean O'Sullivan, DWV Senior Manager, Roads & Transportation, has provided us with the following drawings of the planned MUP: |
*I met online with director, Jenn Moller, Sean O'Sullivan and Andy Kwan. |
**Map showing the planned route: https://wiki.bikehub.ca/images/0/06/Hadden_Drive_to_Taylor_Way_planned_MUP_route_on_map.png |
*Phase 1 construction continues on Westmount Road and planning for the 31st and Marine intersection is to begin this fall. |

*Consultations with residents on 2500 Marine Drive re north-side bike lane to proceed this fall. |
**The plan still needs the approval of MoTI and the meeting with them on 25 September was cancelled. |
*Ambleside Local Area Plan (LAP): |
'''Westmount Road bike lane''' |
**The Transportation Plan will focus on the village centre and will consider the results of the public engagement process to begin in September. |
*work is still underway but the project is nearing completion. Paul has already noticed vehicles parking in the bike lane on Mathers Ave- https://wiki.bikehub.ca/images/9/95/Westmount_Rd_-_vehicles_in_bike_lane_Sept_2023.jpg |
**It is expected that the LAP will be adopted before the higher level mobility plan for the District. |
*Paul has noted that the line marking at 31st/Marine junction presents a very awkward path and the island channelization (and warning drums) is not helpful. He feels that these combined with the half-signal configuration and poor sight distances along Marine Drive, have made this intersection more dangerous. We hope that this will be rectified during the planned improvements for the intersection of 31st and Marine Drive. |
**Bellevue Ave will likely be a focus in the LAP Transportation Plan and the 30 km/hr speed limit will remain. |
'''Bike training at West Van Elementary School''' |
*The final engineering drawings for the Hadden Drive to Westcot Road Multi-Use-Path will be available in September. |
*It is encouraging that West Van is funding bike training at a West Van Elementary School. |
*Jenn has not yet met with Rick Amantea, so our proposal for a Spirit Trail bypass through or near Park Royal South has not advanced and is complicated by plans for the development of the adjoining Squamish Nation lands. |
'''Informational Event on transportation/housing/climate''' |
*Andy Kwan wants feedback on the new etiquette signage (https://wiki.bikehub.ca/images/0/0e/Etiquette_sgn_on_the_Spirit_Trail_2023-08-31_IMG_4815.jpg) on the Spirit Trail between Ambleside and Park Royal. |
*Positive Voices West Vancouver (PVWV) is hosting this public information event which will be a panel discussion with three panelists. |
*I raised again the possibility of a bike path from the new Park Royal South Gateway Residences development along the path on the south side of Marine Drive from Taylor Way to the Capilano Pacific Trail which would give cyclists a safer route between the new development and both the Spirit Trail and entering onto Lions Gate Bridge via the eastbound Marine Drive bridge over the Capilano River. I was told that West Van owns the adjacent property, so this may be a possibility. |
**WHERE: Kiwanis Great Hall, 975 21st Street, West Vancouver, B.C. 6:30 -8:30 pm on 19 October |
*After asking a question, I was reminded that the decision about separating cyclists from pedestrians on the Spirit Trail between 14th and 16th Street would be part of the Ambleside Waterfront Plan (Council motion in 2018) which will eventually be addressed by Council, probably after the last private property is acquired by the District. |
**SPONSORS: PVWV and North Shore Community Resources. |
*I also asked about our proposed bike loops through Ambleside and Dundarave and Jenn suggested that we should approach Council with our proposals. |
'''Go by Bike Week''' |
*Sean was receptive to my invitation for us to take him on a bike ride through Ambleside, Dundarave and Park Royal. He would be interested in riding around one of the bike loops. Paul is not available until the end of September, so I am gong to suggest to Sean that we plan a ride during the last week of September. |
*Paul and Peter plan to volunteer at the GBBW station at 13th and Argyle from 4-6 pm on 16 October. |
</BR> |
*We have invited Sean O'Sullivan to join us on an infrastructure bike ride during that week, possibly just before the GBBW station event. |

Hadden Drive to Westcot Rd Planned MUP
- Sean O'Sullivan, DWV Senior Manager, Roads & Transportation, has provided us with the following drawings of the planned MUP:
