City infrastructure projects just completed

1. King Albert Greenway
2. Barnet Highway One-Way Protected Bike Lane

Future plans

1. Pipeline Road MUP, Guildford to David
2. Guildford Greenway
   1. Aiming for one way cycle tracks with physical separation
   2. Current width of lanes is 1.8 meters. The added stuff could only make it skinnier.
   3. There will be some redevelopment at "Four Corners (City Hall, Police, pool area). Less redevelopment at the other end means opportunities are a bit more limited. Coquitlam is considering a physical curb with delineators. Considering a way for cyclists to get behind bus bulges too.
   4. Snow clearing, sweeping will be some concern.
   5. Committee loves this idea. We would like to help.
   6. Leon interested in creating some more space on the north side for a MUPpish two way route.
      1. City's definition of greenways is the active transportation equivalent of an arterial road. They are looking at improving both cycling facilities and sidewalks.
   7. Timeline: looking at active transportation grant opportunities through the Federal government, potential implementation next year.
3. TransLink BICCS Recovery program opened up this year for strategic low cost/ high value projects. City looking for projects that fit this bill
4. United Blvd
   1. MUP around King Ed to the train tracks planned.
   2. Fawcett to King Edward: There are many statutory ROWs through this area. Mostly big box furniture stores with surface parking.
   3. Looking at options + cost estimates for city to acquire this land. This is huge news.
   4. Also considering a Como Creek crossing to the south.
   5. Leon interested in getting behind the big box stores. MOTI already studied this and determined it has too much riparian stuff.
   6. Waterfront route also identified.
   7. City well aware of funding opportunities from MOTI/ Metro/ TransLink.
   8. Trans Mountain pipeline goes right under the main road. :=(
5. Port Mann -> Riverview Something planned up Glacier Street or else towards Colony Farm along the Mary Hill Bypass.
6. King Albert Greenway expanding from Lougheed Town Center to Mariner.
7. Gatensbury to Como Lake planned.
8. Regan Greenway planned, from Gatensbury to Clarke. Considering some frontage improvements to go along with development near Clarke.
   1. Committee thought that just a bit of calming would help as a more immediate solution.

City has this on their radar. We let them know that we are thinking about writing a letter.

Mayor Stewart acknowledged the expert contributions of their design staff in spite of a lot of citizen blowback.

MOTI meeting update

Very productive meeting with MOTI Local cycling community voiced lots of interest in United Blvd gap, Argue Street to United Blvd, Lougheed Highway. Leon interested in the exact arguments against a path in behind the big box stores on United. Colin: crossing of multiple private properties, rail corridors, Como Creek (protected by 30 meter setback) Colin will follow up with MOTI about this. Mayor Stewart is interested in getting behind the big box stores.

Sasamat Greenway

Mayor Stewart recommends sending a copy of our letter to the Metro Vancouver Regional Park Committee (through Craig Hodge) Widgeon Marsh Park is going to have bike access. Sasamat, Buntzen and Belcarra all conspicuously need better cycling access. Richard Stewart has cycled with John McEwan (Anmore)

Colony Farm letter

It's under way. Let's make sure that it works well with what Coquitlam revealed to us at this meeting. Trans Mountain paid Metro $1.4M for the use of their land. Hopefully they find lots of use for the money. Colony Farm Park Association and Burke Mountain Naturalists might be interested in our letter. Kathy Leko to provide Andrew with contact info that he will share with the group.

Maze gate removal

Colin found 207 in the Tri-Cities. We'll work on that email this month. Mayor Stewart: Councillor Teri Towner working on improving mapping of marked "dead ends" that have cycling through routes.

Adding Argue-United as a gap

Let's do it, we can increase the number of our Top N Gaps. Dragana will work on this.

Coquitlam Parking minimums

Colin interested in sending some email this month about changes made in proposed parking minimums.

Hazel-Coy

Small rural neighbourhood at the top of Coast Meridian, including the area around Crystal Falls. Lots of potential for urban and MTB. Colin and Andrew can meet.
