Happy New Year, Andrew. Not sure if I’m going to be able to attend tomorrow night’s meeting, but one item I think should be discussed is PoCo City Council’s decision to back away from the Patricia bike path project.

I can understand the residents reluctance to the pathway construction on the street even if I don’t agree with their point of view – free car storage vs safe bike path/pedestrian path is no contest from my perspective.

I think HUB needs to pressure PoCo council to keep the intersection improvements at Oxford/Patricia and Shaughnessy/Patricia. These are the real problem points on this section of the designated bike route and even if nothing else happens on the route, these need to be addressed.

It’s also not a good sign that a new council, several of whom campaigned on safe bike/pedestrian routes, are backing away from a project like this in the face of NIMBYism.

Jason.
