Agenda for this meeting

In attendance

Scott, Dragana, Geoff, Jack, Colleen, Andrew, Fiona, Neil

United ride recap and next steps

Scott, Dragana and Jack went with Alex. Team found lots of room behind the big box stores.

Alex says they're waiting on the MOTI report

Jack went to the Fraser Mills development dinner. They are developing from New West to Como Creek. A bridge is going in, but it's scheduled for around fifteen years from now. :-(

Possibility for a route south of the RR tracks, north of the big box stores to use something cantilevered off the car bridge.

Team didn't see much possibility for Richard Campbell's vision of a route north of the RR tracks.

Scott sees a bidirectional route on the south side of Lougheed as the path of least political resistance.

Neil: There's a long term plan for upgrades to the Lougheed corridor to accommodate B-Line service, inter alia. And there will be opportunity for community input.

Action item: Scott to pass along the MOTI report to this committee.

New Riverview trail from Sharpe is not completely done, but was tested out by Scott, Leon and Simon

Port Moody update from Jack: Westport Village

Jack thinks this project doesn't offer much chance for cycling improvements. Construction is 5-8 years away.

Andrew: This building is involved in the Clarke Road gap; this building could be somehow marshalled into a solution to that gap.

PoMo community fair booth

Dragana, Scott, Geoff and Jack can make it Andrew to respond with "yes"

Improving the booth: Free lights? Draw? Colleen is willing to donate a book Plasticized map "where is your personal worst problem area"? Can we get a new laminated map made?

Action item: Jack to find out about swag from HUB/ other connections

Port Moody update from Scott

Scott is now our official Transportation Committee rep on Port Moody. PoCo and Coquitlam don't have this kind of body anymore.

MBN status for Barnet Highway. Andrew to present letter from Jeff Leigh

Jeff let us know why the MBN goes up Snake Hill. Conceptually this network is supposed to connect "urban centers" and both PoMo and Lougheed Mall are defined as urban centers. There isn't any such center between PoMo and downtown Vancouver.

Scott and Andrew are interested in MBN status for the Barnet Highway.

Family destinations: Barnet Marine Park, Reed Point Marina, bike skills park, TCT.

Action item: Andrew to write Jeff L. back.

20 in 20

May 24th deadline.

Action item: Andrew to forward Andrew Picard's email to the group

Patricia update

Jack: what about adding green paint in crossings such as Wellington? Sharrows/ curb push outs? This might solve some of the issues for the community. Action item: Jack to email Melony about this.

Any Other Business

Colleen tried out the new Sheep Paddock Trail. It's currently blocked and not going to open for another year. There is some political (or geological?) problem. Colleen is in contact with Kwikwitlem and PoCo. Action item: Colleen to report back with any further details.

Active Transportation Summit on 17th and 18th of June in the Anvil Centre, New West.

Colleen found out from Mark Halpin that there's a little connection planned from the old Barnet Hotel site up Snake Hill. Scott likes the idea of a discount fare for people heading up the hill.
