Meeting start: 7:12

1. Transportation Referendum

Not much committee can do at this point. Talking bicycles will not sway general public.

2. CVG extension updates:

Update on further discussions on connecting CVG with trails to the east. Some discussion on ways of connecting trails just east of King Edward to Brigantine and Hartley. Property behind big box outlets is owned by outlet stores does not appear to be an option. HUB Vancouver sees this connection as a priority to continue the CVG. Discussion of possible alternative connections, including a path along the creek connecting with Brigantine south of Hartley.

Video by Simon showing yet discontinuous trail under MH bypass ramp. Will connect with new Water Main trail along CPR tracks to Colony Farms. Note on Road Hazards: road hazards should be reported to Main Road - Simon to Provide contact info.

Jack reported on plans for bike lockers at Douglas College. Arrangement shown could accommodate up to 60 bikes in the space of 3 parking spaces with an enclosed cage an double decker support frames. Impressive. Cost would be about $10 per month. Would be operated by C-Media. Jack pursuing implementation with city staff and translink.

3. Coquitlam Council Presentation:

Jack to give the presentation. Presentation is only 5 minutes. Fiona would like to take some time to make a brief presentation on Bike Day in Canada.

Discussed potential ride for city councillors and city staff to see developing areas in the south of Coquitlam and point out areas that need work. Could there also be a connection with the opening of the Port Mann Bridge – potentially a meeting of cyclists from the Tricities and the Surrey side in the middle of the bridge. With Cake and photo-ops for politicians. Good discussion, but no conclusions.
