TriCities HUB Committee Meeting Minutes (provisional)

Date/Time: May 3, 2016, 7:00-8:50PM.

Location: Coquitlam Public Library, 1169 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam

Attendees: Geoff T., Jack T., Fiona W., Andrew H., Sean R., David D., Simon W.

1. Info updates.Still no word on Super Week bike race. Discussion of recent Andres Wine property meeting:access will be right in, right out from Clarke; path through the property; multi-use path along Clarke; 3 levels of parking, very little parking on top.

2. Feedback re United owner letter.Graphic should include a higher level of point of view, so out-of-towners can understand the importance of the United Blvd section. The letter was edited to shorten it and avoid ineffective paragraphs.

3. Port Moody. Discussion re proposal to remove HOV lanes on Clarke and St.Johns. Removing the HOV designation would require approval from Translink:. Action item: Andrew will talk to Mark Halpin, re: a letter of support to Translink to remove the HOV designation.

4. Port Coquitlam. Suggestions for letter of support re bike lane on Maryhill road. Option A is the best: bike lanes on both sides, starting at Mary Hill Rd to Tyner, with parking on south side, with a bike lane to Kingsway for a right turn onto Kingsway. Some people at the City meeting were opposed to losing their parking. From 200 down to 120 spaces. Feedback online.

5. Bike to work week.Looking for local committee volunteers. Jack, Andrew, Dave, Simon volunteered.Stations: Port Moody (Murray & Ioco, pm) + Coquitlam (Landsdowne & Guildford, pm). Poco is no-go this year. HUB provides 2 people and supplies.

6. Bike Day in Canada, May 30, at Hillcrest Middle School. Possible problem: HUB station on Wednesday pm at Poirier & Foster.

7. AOB: Andrew agreed to set up info table at Port Moody Safety fair,June 4. Simon to help
